The Pentagon is planning to spend $20 million on improvements at Mihail Kogalniceanu AB, Romania, now used by US forces as a training area and way station for troops headed to the Middle East., reports Scott Schonauer of Stars and Stripes. Hotel owner Gheorge Enache and other local businessmen look forward to an economic boost when American service members are rotated into the area.
Anduril and General Atomics will develop their Collaborative Combat Aircraft for the Air Force, beating out Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman, the service announced on April 24. But any of the non-selected companies can compete to actually manufacture the eventual design the Air Force said.
