Six surviving members of the Tuskegee Airmen(the name of the storied 332nd Fighter Group of the Second World War(were the guests of honor at an event hosted by the Selfridge Base Community Council at Selfridge ANGB, Mich. earlier this week. The airmen underwent some of their training at Selfridge when it was an Army air field in World War II. They remarked on the vast changes to the base since the last time they were there, according to the the Macomb (Ga.) Daily. Members are expected to be awarded Congressional Gold Medals for distinguished service at a ceremony in Washington late this year.
