A ceremony last week marked the opening of a new bridge—the Maj. Troy L. Gilbert Bridge—that enables personnel at Luke AFB, Ariz., to travel from one side of the base to the other without crossing a public road. The base dedicated the bridge, which took 14 months to construct, to Gilbert, an F-16 pilot from Luke who was killed in Iraq in 2006 while providing close air support to coalition ground forces. Gilbert’s wife, Ginger, attended the ceremony. (Luke report by 2nd Lt. Bryan Bouchard)
The Air Force wants to replace at least some of the aircraft it has lost during Operation Epic Fury against Iran through a supplemental budget request to Congress, Chief of Staff Gen. Kenneth S. Wilsbach indicated April 30.
