The Air Force has agreed to pay Boeing $14 million over five years to provide communications and network systems expertise for unmanned aerial vehicles, according to a company statement. The support includes developing crew training requirements, coordinating communications, establishing air space policies, and providing worldwide platform basing.
Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Kenneth S. Wilsbach told lawmakers Apr. 30 that the service’s biggest airlifter, the C-5 Galaxy, has a 37 percent mission capable rate—one of several challenges facing the mobility fleet.
