The Air Force has begun the slightly controversial move to make the results of enlisted promotions available via the Web with the November chief master sergeant promotion list, according to a Nov. 2 USAF release. Some airmen questioned the service’s enlisted leaders about the plan during AFA’s Air & Space Conference in Washington in September. Service officials believe the new system will make notification easier with so many airmen deployed and will save money and manpower.
The Air Force has embraced new technical approaches like open mission systems and rapid software updates for cutting-edge aircraft like the B-21 and Collaborative Combat Aircraft. Increasingly, though, the service is also working to apply these to its older, “legacy” aircraft, officials said this week.
