The Air Force has renewed its recruiting advertisement effort with the Wood Brothers racing team for a sixth year, Utilizing the Wood Brothers/JTG Racing No. 21 car, driven by NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader. In 2006, the Air Force gets to use three No. 21 show cars painted with the Air Force paint scheme for display at high schools and colleges and can employ several personal appearances by Schrader. It also gets the USAF paint scheme on the No. 21 car during eight Nextel Cup Series races.
The Air Force has embraced new technical approaches like open mission systems and rapid software updates for cutting-edge aircraft like the B-21 and Collaborative Combat Aircraft. Increasingly, though, the service is also working to apply these to its older, “legacy” aircraft, officials said this week.
