Navy Capt. Curt Goldacker, commander of Training Air Wing One at NAS Meridian, Miss., wants to join forces with the Air Force at Columbus AFB, Miss., to train pilots. According to the Associated Press news service, Goldacker and Columbus officials are working on a dual training plan called the “Good Neighbor Project.” One thing they might do, he says, is exchange instructor pilots.
The last remaining T-1 Jayhawk at JBSA-Randolph, Texas, took its final flight to the "Boneyard" at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., on July 15. The 99th Flying Training Squadron will train pilots using T-6 and simulator until it gets T-7 Red Hawk in fiscal 2026.
