Managing security operations at Ali Base and Camp Adder in Iraq is a coalition force manning what’s called the Combined Defense Operations Center. The CDOC comprises, among others, USAF controllers and camera operators, a US Army convoy and patrol tracking monitor, and liaison officers from the US Army and coalition forces. According to the Ali Times, the CDOC has “more than a half century” of experience on its team on any given day. They use the latest technology to monitor what’s taking place inside and outside the two facilities, directing security forces where needed.
The Air Force is launching an effort to develop a new stand-off missile with a range of 1,000 nautical miles, or 1,150 miles, that would eventually be used for both air-to-air and air-to-surface missions.
