Rhein-Main Is Really Gone: US Air Force officials delivered the keys to Rhein-Main AB, Germany, to officials with the Frankfurt International Airport on Dec. 30, the day before the base formally reverted to Germany. US military flight operations had ended in September. According to the Associated Press news service, the airport plans to demolish the base’s buildings to make way for a third terminal for the sprawling Frankfurt civilian airport.
