Air Force Materiel Command has activated a provisional Global Logistics Support Center to standup the actual GLSC, whose job will be to “own” the Air Force’s supply chain management process. The provisional headquarters is at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, but the command hasn’t selected a permanent location. It has decided to put the GLSC command and control cell at Scott AFB, Ill., home of Air Mobility Command. Materiel Command expects to reach initial operational capability, networking current personnel and capabilities into a single organization, in 2008.
