Air Education and Training Command just announced that the T-1A Jayhawk pilot training aircraft flew its one millionth safe flying hour on Oct. 27. AETC officials could not pinpoint the particular pilot or aircraft that crossed the milestone hour, because there were 68 Jayhawks in the air at the time. USAF introduced the T-1A to service in 1993 to train pilots for airlift or tanker aircraft, as well as for navigation training support for the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and international services.
The last remaining T-1 Jayhawk at JBSA-Randolph, Texas, took its final flight to the "Boneyard" at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., on July 15. The 99th Flying Training Squadron will train pilots using T-6 and simulator until it gets T-7 Red Hawk in fiscal 2026.
