The Misty FACs of the Vietnam War were a legendary bunch—only 144 in all. Those with an abiding interest in this famous unit should be on the lookout for a new book now circulating in galleys. “Bury Us Upside Down: The Misty Pilots and the Secret Battle for the Ho Chi Minh Trail” is the work of reporter Richard Newman and retired Maj. Gen. Don Shepperd—himself a Misty. The two collaborated in an Air Force Magazine story in 2000.
Anduril and General Atomics will develop their Collaborative Combat Aircraft for the Air Force, beating out Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman, the service announced on April 24. But any of the non-selected companies can compete to actually manufacture the eventual design, the Air Force said.
