The Revamped C-5 Takes Flight: The C-5M Super Galaxy, the recently unveiled modernized version of the huge airlifter, made its first flight at Dobbins ARB, Ga., Monday, reports UPI news service. Air Force officials expect the avionics and engine modernization program to extend the service life of the C-5 to 2040.
The Air Force is launching an effort to develop a new stand-off missile with a range of 1,000 nautical miles, or 1,150 miles, that would eventually be used for both air-to-air and air-to-surface missions.
