A new software center slated for Robins AFB, Ga., which the Air Force declared vital but had left unfunded may come to fruition after all. The Macon Telegraph reports that the Air Force has asked Congress to let it reprogram money it won’t need after all for new dorms at Kunsan AB, South Korea. The service plans to construct a facility for software engineering labs and communications equipment that Robins would use to help develop software for new weapons systems, such as the F-22 and C-17.
Lawmakers drafting the 2027 defense policy bill worry the Air Force is not moving fast enough to arm its tanker fleet with new protection systems capable of defeating incoming missile threats.
