Air Combat Command must select 500 enlisted active-duty airmen—technical sergeant and below—to retrain from their current career fields, now that the service has entered, what it calls Phase II, or involuntary retraining, of the NCO Retraining Program for Fiscal 2008. Joint Base Andrews opened its flightline this month to thousands of civilians, exposing a normally restricted airbase that regularly hosts the president and foreign dignitaries to a curious public eager to see current and historic military aircraft up close and in action.
