USAF’s Second Air Force has a new commander. He is Maj. Gen. Michael Gould, a fighter pilot who assumed command last week. Headquartered at Keesler AFB, Miss., 2nd AF is the service’s second-largest command, managing much of USAF’s extensive training program. Some 225,000 airmen graduate annually from its programs. Gould replaces Lt. Gen. Chip Utterback.
Anduril and General Atomics will develop their Collaborative Combat Aircraft for the Air Force, beating out Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman, the service announced on April 24. But any of the non-selected companies can compete to actually manufacture the eventual design, the Air Force said.
