The Air Force is still toting up and verifying claims it has received following the New Jersey fire sparked by an Air National Guard F-16 earlier this year, but the service has revealed that one claim, filed Aug. 1 by the Phoenix Pinelands Corp., is for $197.7 million. The Press of Atlantic City reports that the corporation is a sand mining company based in Little Egg Harbor Township. That one claim amounts to almost the entire $200 million in claims the service currently has received. The review of the incident continues, but it already has resulted in leadership changes within the units involved.
One of the Air Force’s developmental Collaborative Combat Aircraft fired a live missile in a recent test, marking a critical step forward in the development of the service’s fleet of semi-autonomous drone fighters.
