The Air Force launched a new recruiting advertising campaign, called “Do Something Amazing,” during prime time Monday night. The commercials, which tie in with USAF’s new interactive Web site, showcase Air Force people performing their jobs. The videos were taken with a hand-held camera or used existing USAF footage, unlike previous glossy Hollywood-type productions. That means, according to ad agency GSD&M of Austin, Tex., that it can produce more commercials.
The six-week government shutdown did not affect the hours flown by Air Force pilots, a service spokesperson told Air & Space Forces Magazine—avoiding what could have been a major blow at a time when flying hours are already lower than they have been in decades.
