Two Senate committees jointly and one House committee this morning have begun grilling Veteran Affairs officials over the data theft. Late yesterday, VA Committee Chair Larry Craig said that the hearing called by his committee would be held jointly with the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, chaired by Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), at 10 a.m. today. The House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, led by Rep. Steve Buyer (R-Ind.), started it’s hearing at 9 a.m.
The Senate voted Nov. 10 to approve a stopgap funding bill that would reopen the federal government and keep it funded through January, a significant step toward ending the longest shutdown in U.S. history.
