When Gen. Bruce Carlson, commander of Air Force Materiel Command, visited the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center at Tinker AFB, Okla., last week, he told an auditorium full of ALC personnel, “The real reason I’m here is to tell you what a great job I think you’re doing.” Air Force journalist Darren Heusel reports that Carlson explained the command’s ALCs (including Ogden ALC in Utah and Warner Robins ALC in Georgia) are excellent at sustainment, but he believes all AFMC entities fall short in their ability to “work together across that continuum of core missions” and need to “work more efficiently and effectively.” Carlson acknowledged, though, that Tinker is “at the leading edge of this process with the B-2 and its performance-based logistics work,” but it should “expand the PBL process to include supply chain management.” He forecasts more work for the three Air Force depots.
