The director of the National Reconnaissance Office takes on an additional title- Assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force for Intelligence Space Technology. For more than 40 years, the Air Force Undersecretary also served as NRO chief, but DOD severed that tie earlier in the year in revamping its intelligence structure.
