Maj. Gen. Michael Gould has been nominated to receive a third star to be the next superintendent of the Air Force Academy, the Department of Defense announced yesterday. Gould is currently director of operations and plans for US Transportation Command. If confirmed by the Senate, he would replace Lt. Gen. John Regni, who has led the academy since October 2005 and will retire later this year.
President Donald Trump is proposing a 13 percent increase in defense spending for fiscal 2026, growth that could mean the first ever $1 trillion defense budget, according to a document obtained by Air & Space Forces Magazine.
