In Afghanistan, Air Mobility Command enabled Operation Tiger Crossing, Gen. Duncan McNabb said at AFA’s Orlando symposium Friday. The AMC boss said Mobility Command transported Bailey Bridges aboard C-17s, flying them from Aviano AB, Italy to Bagram AB, Afghanistan. The US Army and Afghani nationals erected the bridges. According to McNabb, “Four to six months out of the year, you couldn’t get from one side [of the valley] to the other unless you waded through the river.” He went on: “The province is completely different now. When you talk about something material that you can give some folks that can completely change the economics of that area, that’s what they did.”
