A new DOD Web site features government research and studies of medical issues that have been faced by military personnel during deployments, starting with 1991 Gulf War-related medical research. Officials say the new site also will feature additional medical information gathered from Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom sometime this summer and continue to grow.
The emphasis on speed in the Pentagon’s newly unveiled slate of acquisition reforms may come with increased near-term cost increases, analysts say. But according to U.S. defense officials, the new weapons-buying construct provides the military with enough flexibility to prevent runaway budget overruns in major programs.
