Pentagon Offers Medals for Hurricane Work

Military and DOD civilian personnel can receive medals for their assistance during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita relief efforts, according to the Air Force Personnel Center. Services may award military members the Humanitarian Service Medal or the Armed Forces Service Medal and civilians, the Armed Forces Civilian Service Medal. Officials say personnel may receive only one medal, not one for each hurricane. Read more here.

Wilsbach Confirmed as Air Force Chief

Gen. Kenneth S. Wilsbach was confirmed as the 24th Air Force Chief of Staff Oct. 30 by unanimous consent. Shortly before, his predecessor, Gen. David W. Allvin, was "clapped" out of the Pentagon, 10 weeks after he unexpectedly announced his retirement on Aug. 18, two years into his four-year term.
