It seems there is no end to the versatility of the B-52 bomber. Will it become a stand-off jammer? Boeing company officials publicly launched a campaign Tuesday to get the contract for the new Buff SOJ team of Boeing and BAE Systems, saying their combination of platform expert and highly experienced electronic warfare integrator has the “vision and capability to deliver.” The Air Force expects to have an operational B-52 SOJ by 2012. The Air Force has finished modifying and testing the new VC-25B Bridge aircraft that will serve as a temporary Air Force One, the service announced May 1. All that’s left now is to finish painting the jet before it starts flying this summer.
