Maj. Gen. Michael Worden, commander of the Air Warfare Center at Nellis AFB, Nev., told the North Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce that Nellis is under attack from surrounding development, reports KREN. The same is true for Air Force bases in Colorado, according to Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Colo.), who put a provision in the 2008 defense policy bill to get DOD to address the issue.
U.S. Southern Command recently announced its first lethal strike on a suspected narco-trafficking vessel in two months, and the first under a newly formed permanent counter-cartel task force.
