Newspaper Notes a Security Breach: The San Francisco Chronicle informed the Secret Service that a government document detailing specific information about Air Force One, the Presidential aircraft, had been found on an Air Force Web site. (The newspaper did not disclose the specific site in its article.) The Chronicle reported that the document exposed information on the anti-missile defenses and the location of Secret Service agents and onboard medical oxygen systems, which the document said could be detonated by a Sniper. The Secret Service would not comment for the Chronicle article. White House spokesman Scott McClellan also refused to answer questions on the subject at Monday’s press briefing.
The House Armed Services Committee released its first draft of the fiscal 2027 National Defense Authorization bill on May 26. Among the many provisions in the defense policy bill are elements of legislation introduced in the Senate last month authorizing multiyear procurement contracts for the F-35 and F-15EX fighters.
