DOD announces that US Cyber Command, headquartered at Fort Meade, Md., has reached full operational capability. Defense Secretary Robert Gates directed US Strategic Command on June 23, 2009, to immediately establish the new command, which celebrated initial operational capability on May 21, 2010.
