In Operation Zaire II, USAF C-141s and C-5s airlift Belgian and French troops from Zaire, replacing them with African peacekeeping troops. In 72 missions, they transport 1,225 passengers and 1,619 tons of cargo.
The Air Force is on track to reach its annual goal of graduating 1,500 new pilots that had proved elusive to this point, one year after the service launched a sweeping overhaul of its undergraduate pilot training program, Air Education and Training Command said Sept. 14.
