USAF inactivates 17th Air Force (Air Forces Africa), US Africa Command’s air component since October 2008, during a ceremony at Ramstein AB, Germany. At the same time, US Air Forces in Europe assumes the air component role, becoming US Air Forces in Europe-Air Forces Africa.
