The Big Apple Celebrates Airmen

The first Air Force Week of 2010 kicked off Tuesday in the Big Apple. It runs through Sunday. “New York City is the largest city in the nation and it’s a great opportunity for people in the city and the state of New York to recognize all of our airmen,” said Air Force Secretary Michael Donley during the Air Force Week opening ceremony aboard the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum at Manhattan’s Pier 86. Donley said the planned festivities are also USAF’s way of thanking New Yorkers for all of their support. The scheduled events include USAF technology exhibits in Times Square, an Air Force night at Thursday’s New York Mets game, flyovers off the Intrepid by USAF aircraft, and park clean-up projects across the city.
