Dover Opens New Sim Facility

Delaware elected officials joined Air Force and Boeing personnel earlier this month to formally cut a ribbon for the new $23 million C-17 simulator facility at Dover AFB, Del. Boeing had delivered the Aircrew Training System to Dover last month, four months early. According to a Dec. 11 company release, Boeing “develops, operates, and supports 10 US C-17 ATS sites and expects to expand to three more within and outside the United States by 2010. Dover officials were especially pleased to get the new facility online early, which they said was the result of an Air Force Smart Operation for the 21st century initiative, because of the time and money they expect to save in using it instead of traveling to another base.
