Retired Gen. Lew Allen Jr., 10th Air Force Chief of Staff who died Jan. 4 in Potomac Falls, Va., at age 84, was laid to rest with full military honors Monday at Arlington National Cemetery. Among those in attendance were current Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz, Allen’s wife Barbara, and additional family members. Allen served as CSAF from July 1978 to July 1982. An F-16 Fighting Falcon assigned to the Texas Air National Guard’s 149th Fighter Wing crashed during a training mission in Michigan on Sept. 17. The fighter's sole pilot ejected and is in stable condition at a local hospital.
