The Air Force has awarded a Bronze Star medal to Lt. Col. Terence Mitchell, the chief of medical staff with the 1st Special Operations Medical Group at Hurlburt Field, Fla., for his actions while deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom. He provided health care to military and civilian personnel and showed “an extraordinary ability to operate in the most uncertain and fluid combat environments,” according to the medal citation. Col. Dale Agner, 1st SOMDG commander, called the award “very well-earned.” (Hurlburt report by A1C Joe McFadden)
The Air Force is launching an effort to develop a new stand-off missile with a range of 1,000 nautical miles, or 1,150 miles, that would eventually be used for both air-to-air and air-to-surface missions.
