Adaptive Sports Camp for Wounded Warriors

The Air Force will hold its first-ever joint camp next month in San Antonio to introduce wounded warriors to adaptive sports, fitness, and recreational activities. Fifteen Air Force and 30 Navy and US Special Operations Command wounded warriors will have an opportunity to learn about various adaptive sports, such as wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, cycling, and aquatics, during the five-day event that kicks off on Jan. 17. “This inaugural Air Force training camp is the first big step of many to better take care of our wounded warriors,” said Col. David Anderson, Air Force Services Agency’s director of programs. The camp is part of USAF’s Adaptive Fitness and Sports Program that provides quality-of-life activities for nearly 1,300 wounded, ill, or injured airmen. “This program helps get these great Americans back in the game of life and offers some balance to their world,” said Anderson.
