A group of 29 civic leaders recently spent four days traveling to sites in Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas to see firsthand border issues and airspace defense challenges facing NORAD and US Northern Command today. NORAD/NORTHCOM Spokesman Mike Perini said it was a tour designed to focus on “critical mission sets.” The group included many who hold public service and homeland security positions in various states.
The Space Development Agency says it’s on track to issue its next batch of missile warning and tracking satellite contracts this month after those awards were delayed by the Pentagon’s decision to divert funds from the agency to pay troops during this fall’s prolonged government shutdown.
