Tucson Committee Shares Neighborly Thoughts: The folks in Tucson who consider the aircraft noise generated by activities at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz., too excessive have generated a few suggestions to reduce noise but do no harm to the air base. The Arizona Daily Star reports that the Military Community Compatibility Committee plans Wednesday to make a public presentation of several proposals developed over several months.
The six-week government shutdown did not affect the hours flown by Air Force pilots, a service spokesperson told Air & Space Forces Magazine—avoiding what could have been a major blow at a time when flying hours are already lower than they have been in decades.
