NORAD and US Northern Command plan to conduct the Ardent Sentry 06 bilateral exercise from May 8 to May 18 from their headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo., and other locations in the US and Canada. The exercise involves federal, provincial, state, and local agencies in both countries and will focus primarily on defense support for civil authorities as well as drilling for the military’s homeland defense function.
The Pentagon agency charged with building and operating U.S. spy satellites recently declassified some details about a Cold War-era surveillance program called Jumpseat—a revelation it says sheds light on the importance of satellite imaging technology and how it has advanced in the decades since.
