The Air Force confirmed Wednesday that its inspector general has cleared Air Force Academy Commandant of Cadets Brig. Gen. Johnny Weida from a charge that he had attempted to proselytize non-Christian cadets at the academy, according to an Associated Press report. Weida’s name had been pulled from a promotion list. The Air Force now says it supports his promotion to major general. Weida was one of a new bunch of officers the Air Force installed at the academy to clean house after a sexual assault scandal. Airman 1st Class Marcus White-Allen concocted a story to cover up that he fired his M18 9mm pistol into Airman Braden Lovan’s chest, killing him on July 20, two Airmen from F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo., testified during separate courts martial proceedings on Oct. 30-31.
