The Air Force has awarded the Lockheed Martin A-10 Prime Team $40.4 million to complete the engineering and manufacturing development phase of the precision engagement program for the A-10C, the digitally enhanced version of the A-10 Warthog. According to a company release, the team, which includes Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, and Southwest Research Institute, will continue its work through May 2008 to develop the PE software suite and support USAF flight testing.
A combined Navy and Air Force program is seeking to build a smaller version of a ubiquitous air-to-air missile that could give advanced aircraft, such as the Collaborative Combat Aircraft, greater magazine depth in a high-end fight.
