US Air Forces in Europe medics joined other US military and Moroccan medical personnel, treating patients in rural Morocco for diseases such as tuberculosis and intestinal infections as part of the humanitarian medical aid portion of African Lion 06, an annual US-Moroccan military exercise, which ended May 31. According to Stars and Stripes, a group of 33 active duty and reserve Air Force and Navy personnel have treated nearly 5,000 people in less than a week.
A new Air Force plan for how many fighters it needs in the next decade marks a sharp upturn from what it thought it needed just seven years ago. But analysts worry that the aspirational plan now in Congress' hands doesn’t make a tight enough connection to national strategy.
