The Civil Air Patrol flew 960 sorties, logging 1,848.6 flying hours, covering relief operations for Hurricane’s Katrina, Ophelia, and Rita. That’s not all. CAP officials say members of the Air Force Auxiliary worked 35,495 manhours, surveyed 4, 266 homes, and made 8,524 contacts with hurricane victims. Taking note of these awesome contributions is the American Society of Association Executives,’ which presented CAP with the 2006 Association Advance America Award of Excellence.
The rate of building B-21 bombers would speed up if the fiscal 2026 defense budget passes. But it remains unclear how much capacity would be added, and whether the Air Force would simply build the bombers faster, or buy more.
