Remains of four US and one Iraqi airmen killed in a May 30 airplane crash in Iraq were interred in a single mass grave at Arlington National Cemetery Aug. 11. The US airmen were: Maj. William Downs, Capt. Derek Argel, Capt. Jeremy Fresques, and SSgt. Casey Crate. The Iraqi was: Capt. Ali Abass.
Airmen basic rarely go on to become four-star generals, but one who did retired last week after a 42 year career that saw him rise from a lowly slick-sleeve to the head of one of the Air Force’s most important major commands.
