A C-17 from the 62nd Airlift Wing at McChord AFB, Wash., had the distinction to fly Air Mobility Command’s millionth sortie for the war on terror. The milestone flight came as a crew from the 62nd AW’s 10th Airlift Squadron flew a mission to Manas AB, Kyrgyzstan, on Nov. 19. According to AMC, about every 90 seconds a USAF mobility aircraft lifts off somewhere around the world.
The Air Force plans to add external weapons pylons on the B-1B bomber, both to increase the number of aircraft that can test hypersonic missiles and expand the Lancer’s loadout as USAF transitions to the B-21 bomber.
