USAF After the Hurricane:
The list of active and reserve military support being provided for post-Katrina work is extensive. Among Air Force elements participating are: helicopters from Air Force Special Operations Commands’ 347th Rescue Wing, Moody AFB, Ga., and Air Force Reserve Command’s 920th RQW, Patrick AFB, Fla.; operational staging facilities at Barksdale AFB, La., and Maxwell AFB, Ala.; an airfield support team from Air Mobility Command’s 615th Contingency Response Wing, Travis AFB, Calif.; and airlift of supplies by numerous AMC C-17s and C-5s.
