The leadership at Eielson AFB, Alaska, last month celebrated the opening of the first home in Ravens Wood, the base’s newest housing tract. “It’s an awesome house for us and the unit is beautiful,” said Capt. Max Cover of Eielson’s 18th Aggressor Squadron, who moved into the new home with his wife Lori. Theirs is the first of 29 homes destined for the company-grade officer housing area. These homes will feature energy-efficient attributes such as radiant heated floors, improved windows and doors, and two-car garages with drainage and storage areas. They also will offer amenities like kitchens with eat-in raised bar areas and a large second-floor bonus room since they lack basements, said John Moriarty, construction program manager. “The quality of living is something you are not going to find on other bases,” he said.
