Lt. Gen. Robert McMurry took command of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center during a ceremony at the National Museum of the Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, on May 2. McMurry previously served as the commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory and received his third star before assuming the position. McMurry replaces Lt. Gen. John Thompson, who was selected to be the commander of the Space and Missile Systems Center.
Depot-level maintenance took longer than expected for nearly three-quarters of Air Force aircraft from fiscal 2019-2024, according to a new report, as unplanned repairs rise across the aging fleet. The report, from the Government Accountability Office, also found that the extent of the delays has been masked because officials often revise their target timelines after unplanned work occurs.
