President Barack Obama has nominated Maj. Gen. James McLaughlin for the appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as deputy commander of US Cyber Command at Fort Meade, Md. If approved by the Senate, McLaughlin, who currently serves as commander of 24th Air Force at JBSA-Lackland, Texas, would replace Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Airmen and Guardians in the Active and Reserve component, as well as civilian employees, in “mission critical and high-risk populations” are now required to receive influenza vaccinations annually to “preserve force readiness,” according to a recent Department of the Air Force memo.
