Air Mobility Command’s enlisted force nominated AMC Commander Gen. Raymond Johns to receive the highest honor it can bestow—the command’s Order of the Sword. “His entire career personifies strong mission focus and genuine compassion,” said CMSgt. Richard Kaiser, AMC’s command chief, in announcing the nomination. “His selfless focus has enabled thousands of airmen and families to flourish,” added Kaiser. A surprise honor cordon of 250 airmen saluted Johns’ arrival to AMC headquarters at Scott AFB, Ill., on Aug. 20 in recognition of his nomination that day, states a command release. During his tenure at AMC, which began in November 2009, Johns authorized more than $52 million in “quality-of-life programs,” benefiting enlisted airmen, according to the release. Among his contributions, Johns, along with Air Combat Command leaders, pioneered the Comprehensive Airman Fitness program to promote healthy living. His formal induction to the order is scheduled for Nov. 28. (Scott report by SSgt. Amber Kelly-Herard)
